Strengthening practices to develop a stable foundation for your yoga practice.

Leg strength series

Many of the modern yoga practices we do today involve balancing and alignment postures that require strength and stability of our feet and legs. We often make the mistake of thinking that by practicing yoga on its own, our muscles will naturally become strong. However, if the muscles of your feet and legs are not prepared for these kind of practices, you are most likely going to "hang" from your joints, such as the knees and the hips, rather tha recruit the large muscles of your lower body. These simple, micro-engaging exercises will help you warm up and tone the muscles involved in standing and balancing yoga practices, making a huge difference to your physical and mental experience of yoga.
